Primary Objective: Safely monitors and operates pad, pack or foil production lines to produce a quality product to documented standards in the quantities specified by the production schedule 

 

Major Function and Scope: Using brief narrative statements, describe each major function of responsibility explaining the scope of the function as appropriate. 

 

Exercise the necessary safety precautions to ensure the safety of all personnel 

Ensure compliance with company procedures and guidelines to assure the highest level of personnel proficiency and product quality while maximizing yields and minimizing costs. 

Troubleshoot products and machinery as it relates to Extrusion and/or, Recycle, Towers.  

Lead line changeover process to ensure quality start up meeting product qualifications and predetermined line efficiency within specified time requirements. 

Analyze operator and machinery errors that produce quality defects and corrects skill deficiencies. 

Responsible for effectively training manufacturing positions up to and including machine operators utilizing new learner training, familiarization training, cross-training, and proficiency training.  

Inform supervisor as to the progress of learners and identify skills and knowledge deficiencies. 

Jointly works with supervisor to provide feedback to the learners. 

Work with the team to reduce downtime and improve shift operating efficiencies. 

Learn all new products and joints and be able to instruct operators on the line in the skills necessary to manufacture new products. 

Learn new machinery as it enters the facility and instruct others in the safe and efficient operating procedures of the equipment. 

Cross train on various other jobs in the plant as needed 

Investigate and solve technical process, equipment, or material issues and initiate corrective action. 

Promote teamwork and pride in the job, the team and the company, through personal example. 

Ensure compliance to manufacturing process flow for operational area of responsibility. Responsible for resolving issues of non-compliance in a timely manner.  Escalate issues to appropriate personnel when necessary. 

Act as point of contact for escalated technical problem resolution.  

Identify areas for process improvement in functional area and initiate actions with respective resources, (i.e., maintenance, engineering, and management). 

On a daily basis, monitor line performance against production goals and proactively identify areas of low performance. Make recommendations of improvement to shift supervisor and actively participate in the resolution. Ensure approved recommendations are implemented within assigned timeframe.

Type of Experience and Knowledge: 

Knowledge, Experience, Certifications: Describe the education, knowledge required, years of experience, specific skills and abilities required to do the job on a fully competent basis. 

High school diploma or GED equivalent. 

Must be a qualified machine operator on all lines. 

Competencies:  Describe the specific skills required for this position in terms of technical, managerial, interpersonal skills and unique abilities. 

Read and comprehend technical manuals and blueprint drawings. 

Must be proficient in Word, Excel and Microsoft office 

Previous experience in an automated manufacturing production environment highly preferred. 

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 

Demonstrated effectiveness with interpersonal and communication skills.
