Sr. Security Engineer - Cybersecurity

The Cybersecurity Specialist assists in organization of the cyber security projects and makes sure they meet security objectives. They work in close coordination with the stakeholders and other groups related to security related matters. The specialist offers security operations such as process re-engineering, automation, and documentation. The specialist recognizes security issues in order to devise and drive effective mitigation. detects comprisable patterns, insecure features, and malicious activities in the infrastructure and have an understanding of OWASP testing methodology. They will also help solidify and drive the DLP, File Integrity Monitoring, and Vulnerability Management program

  • Assist with analysis of existing security systems and make recommendations for changes or improvements.
  • Provide research and reporting for vulnerabilities and risks in hardware and software systems.
  • Assist with action plans in the event that a security breach does occur.
  • Provide support to internal teams who monitor the network and provide early warning of abnormalities or problems.
  • Ability to recognize security gaps and assist in preparing action plans.
  • Suggest recommendations, create security policies and ensure they are implemented. with support and mitigation during implementation.
  • Create awareness about security policy and security issues.
  • Assist with upgrades of systems regularly to remain competitive in the field of security.
  • Communicate the system status and keep users informed of downtime or changes to the system.
  • Keep technical knowledge current through continuing education.
  • Knowledge of current security risks, frameworks, and protocols
  • Helps detect comprisable patterns, insecure features, and malicious activities in the infrastructure.
  • Manage lifecycle of vulnerabilities from discovery, triage, advising, remediation, and validation.  
  • Work with various business units to perform vulnerability assessments on systems or applications before go-live rollouts.  
  • Triage patch Tuesday releases and make recommendations on required remediations.  
  • Examine systems and applications to assess the current security posture.  
  • Manage vulnerability related tickets to ensure issues are remediated within proper timelines.  
  • Fundamental understanding of accepted security practices, known attack vectors and vulnerability assessment methodologies  
  • Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, TCP, UDP, etc.)  
  • Basic knowledge of network access and identity and access management  
  • Ability to identify systemic security issues based on the analysis of vulnerability and configuration data  
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment requiring analytical and problem-solving skills  
  • Work with system engineering team to perform configuration and deployment of vulnerability scanning and network assessment tools  
  • Conduct scans to identify vulnerabilities or confirm compliance to security standards  
  • Perform in-depth analysis of vulnerabilities by correlating data from various sources  
  • Determine if critical systems or data have been impacted by vulnerabilities and advise on remediation  
  • Support Incident Detection and Response team in performing day-to-day operations  
  • Maintain patch and vulnerability management practices to protect against the exploitation of critical vulnerabilities  
  • Coordinate with different teams to implement and utilize a combination of automated tools.  
  • Subject matter expert role of DLP tools which includes configuring policies, upgrading, and patching, etc.  
  • Assist audit and develop DLP capability by lessons learned for potential improvement.  
  • Maintains and provides improvements to DLP processes and procedures  
  • Sets standards on DLP configuration changes, including testing and validation  
  • Recommends improvements or additions to DLP requirements and use cases  
  • Conducts analysis of and provides metrics regarding DLP trends, anomalies, etc.  



  • Post-secondary degree in Information security, information technology, system administration, network security, cybersecurity, network administration or a related field.
  • At least 3-4 years of experience in security engineering, DLP, Vulnerability Management, FIM, SIEM, security analysis, threat intelligence, support of SOC teams.
  • Knowledge of current security risks, frameworks, and protocols.
  • Knowledge or experience with Data Loss Prevention tools.
  • Knowledge or experience with File Integrity Monitoring tools.
  • Knowledge or experience with Vulnerability Management tools
  • Willingness to provide support in the event of a security breach or other emergencies
  • Experience or knowledge in Security Incident Event Management tools (SIEM)
  • Great analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work under supervision, as well as the ability to take independent initiative when needed
  • Security +, Network +, Project +, obtained CISM or CISSP or currently studying for CISM or CISSP
