Primary Objective:  

  • The Manager Network Operations will be responsible for leading and transforming IT Enterprise Architecture for Wireline/Wireless Network operation. This is a high profile leadership role that needs collaboration with other Architects and Domain Experts to develop Reference architecture for the Network Infrastructure Teams supporting the Mohawk Flooring business unit.  Consistently, drive the implementation and best practice standards towards the end state. Additional tasks are to collect operational and trend statistics and to analyze performance results.
  • This position is expected to provide advanced technical support for issues that are escalated from the network and systems teams and is the top escalation point for all critical network related issues.  Sharing of skills through training, mentoring and knowledge transfers to other network team members is also expected.

Major Function and Scope:

  • Cataloging and owning project requests
  • Coordinating, leading, and managing project meetings and collaboration sessions
  • Establishing objectives and milestones
  • Defining and guarding scope
  • Resource capacity planning and velocity tracking
  • Planning, owning, leading, coordinating, and driving the project
  • Working with vendors
  • Work with Global team concerning infrastructure and related LAN and WAN issues.
  • Develop, revise and review SOPs, qualification/validation protocols and reports with ongoing awareness to changes in business or regulatory
  • Keeping project teams aligned
  • Coordinating and facilitating communication between departments and project team members
  • Work with the project teams to identify the level of effort required for tasks or projects
  • Work with cross-functional departments to ensure they are engaged and prepared to implement new project initiatives including associated process changes
  • Maintain project plan, timeline, status deck, sprint plans and backlogs
  • Work directly with Network management, vendors and business owners to ensure timelines are committed to and those commitments are upheld.

Type of Experience and Knowledge:


  • Bachelor’s degree preferred with a concentration or major in engineering or computer science and/or 8 years’ direct career experience in information technology disciplines with a focus on advanced network design and implementation. Expert level certification (e.g. CCIE, CCNP, CCDP) a plus.
    • 5+ years project management experience in a networking environment
    • Proven ability to manage diverse cross-functional teams
    • Proven track record managing multiple projects involving systems, software and network engineers
    • Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
    • Skills in Cisco design for Wi-Fi, Voice and Video
    • Demonstrates an understanding of core US-standard telecommunications service technical concepts to include: analog, digital/TDM, and IP/SIP-based wire-line voice and data services.
    • Demonstrates a working knowledge of electrical and telecommunication wiring standards, color codes, and adherence to established IT standards by effectively identifying installation issues and resolving with assigned contractors.
    • Demonstrates an understanding of Local and Wide Area IP networking fundamentals, to include: IP network structural characteristics (Layer 1), the physical, electrical, and cooling requirements of installed hardware components, and the fundamentals associated with the design and delivery of wireless Ethernet-based networks.

  • Should be able demonstrate hands on skills:
    • IP routing protocols including RIP, BGP, OSPF, IP Multicast, MPLS
    • IPv4 knowledge required and IPv6 knowledge a plus
    • IP fundamentals including packet level analysis
    • Network infrastructure including LAN, WAN, routing, switching, load-balancing, security.
    • Network VPN protocols GRE, IPSEC, SSL, L2TP, PPTP, SSTP
    • Telephony including PSTN, voice and video over IP.
    • Network applications including VoIP, video, encryption, content delivery.
    • Network security including firewalls, proxies, ACL, IPSec, SSL/TLS, IPS/IDS
    • Physical layer including Ethernet, SONET, T1/T3, FiberChannel.
    • Application transport and network infrastructure protocols (SSL/TLS, DNS, DHCP, WINS, NTP, FTPs, HTTP, HTTPs, SMTP, SSH, LDAP, and Microsoft AD), and possess an understanding of how to support these applications / protocols when accessed through VPN and firewall appliances.


Associates Supervised: I

Temporary indirect reporting relationships may exist while working as Project lead. May be require to act in senior role, providing task related advise and direction to junior team members
