JOB DESCRIPTION

Distribution Shift Leader

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the associates and daily activities required to successfully run the shift.
  • Must be able to strictly adhere to all safety and departmental policies and procedures. 
  • Implement department plans that are consistent with productivity, inventory, and labor goals.
  • Manage orders in process and keep all ship vias moving.
  • Manage current projects and special activities.
  • Optimize utilization of assets by overseeing and directing activities to ensure support of shipping plans.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing and provide assistance when necessary.
  • Plan priorities for the distribution of outgoing materials in accordance with the priority shipping and zone skip programs.
  • Monitor operations to ensure all deadlines are met in accordance with established daily operational objectives.
  • Formulate and prepare ideas to reduce obsolete inventory and process times to increase inventory turns and reduce waste in process steps.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (production vs plan, schedule attainment, etc.) and proactively communicate issues and gaps with Manufacturing, Logistics, Planning, Customer Service to drive resolution.
  • Analyze and maintain replenishments at SKU level to insure the appropriate safety stock levels.
  • Participate in short-term planning meetings and projects, addressing issues related to labor, material requirements, changes in productivity, performance measures, and goals.
  • Develop and work with supervisors in all areas such as employee relations, problem solving, setting and achieving goals, budget control, manufacturing processes, scheduling, disciplinary action, terminations, equipment problems, etc.
  • Provides a safe work environment that meets the guidelines of the Company safety program while achieving the departmental safety goals.
  • Performs other duties as required.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Work experience with demonstrated professional growth and achievement in an organization of comparable size, business diversity, scope and complexity, experience.
  • Demonstrated experience developing solutions to diverse and complex business problems.
  • LEAN Manufacturing, 5S, Six Sigma, or other comparable training and experience preferred.
  • Proficiency using a PC and other department specific databases and/or systems.
  • Knowledge of Mohawk’s organizational and functional operating structure, products, procedures, and policies.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of HR policies, practices, and procedures as it relates to employee relations, hiring, and terminations.

  • Ability to effectively interact with Senior Management and internal customers.
  • Ability to communicate in an antagonistic situation using appropriate interpersonal styles and methods to reduce tension or conflict and maintain professionalism in accordance with corporate standards.

  • Ability to present and explain information and statistical data in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others, and gains understanding.

  • Ability to persuade, market and sell new ideas.
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment and exercise good judgment to resolve problems in the absence of formalized guidelines and procedures.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to lead and direct a diverse work group and achieve results through team effort and the ability to direct the activities of others.
