What we need: 

The Sr Safety Specialist is a high performing contributor that works to create and facilitate an accident-free workplace by executing on and implementing safety policies and programs, providing training, generating and maintaining safety documentation, and ensuring compliance with state and federal laws within assigned facility or location. This role helps promote and maintain a safe and healthy work environment by collaborating with various departments to minimize workplace hazards and foster a culture of safety. 

  

What you’ll do: 

  • Provide ongoing instruction of OSHA required safety disciplines. 

  • Ensure all annual or recurring safety training requirements are met. 

  • Organize training sessions to ensure all employees within the assigned area have current safety training as required by law and Company guidelines. 

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee training and safety records and reports. 

  • Review and update Job Safety Analysis documents to identify work-related hazards. 

  • Conduct safety audits across multiple facilities throughout the division to identify and correct unsafe conditions and unsafe acts. 

  • Monitor employee behavior within the assigned area and recommend remedial safety instructions, as necessary. 

  • Participate in accident and incident investigations to determine root causes of an event. 

  • Write detailed summaries and recommendations regarding corrective actions necessary to prevent accidents. 

  • Communicate on a regular basis with safety personnel to promote consistency in the application of safety policies throughout the Company. 

  • Lead and participate in division projects addressing safety issues. 

  • Perform other duties as needed. 

  

What you have: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent education and/or experience. 

  • 4-6 years of job specific experience or equivalent education and/or experience. 

  • Safety training and certificates preferred. 

  • Knowledge of OSHA safety disciplines, other regulatory guidelines, and common industrial safety practices.

  • Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite products. 

  • Flexible attitude, adaptable to change, team player, and able to handle multiple projects at once. 

  • High degree of professionalism, judgment, maturity, and resourcefulness in the absence of formalized guidelines and procedures. 

  

What Else? 

  • This position requires the team member to work with machinery in an environment where there may be fluctuating temperatures, and additional department-specific variables. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) will be required, and may include hearing protection, safety shoes, high-visibility clothing, and eye protection.   

  • On-call hours may be required in this role. 

  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.; walking, bending, squatting, climbing ladders and stairs are required.
