Primary Objective:
Operate sit down forklift and ensure timely movement of finished goods inventory into warehouse locations. Duties are performed under general supervision following standard work procedures and guidelines.
Major Function and Scope:
- Must be able to perform the following duties:
- Operates sit down forklift to transport materials between packaging, loading, processing, and storage areas.
- Operate and follow instructions as directed by an onboard RF unit.
- Complies with all safety rules and procedures.
- Ensures pack line areas and machines are filled with packaging supplies.
- Places empty pallets in location and attaches bar codes (pallet feet).
- Assists in the unloading of shuttles on and loading of trucks.
- Pulls bulk pallets of flooring from warehouse to docks.
- Communicates with office staff on upcoming needs in support of the direct loading program (ie. trailers needed, when full and need replacement)
- Loads trailers in support of the direct loading program in a safe, efficient manner avoiding damage to newly created product with proper loading techniques
- Inspects pallets for quality assurance at designated times based on volume and product
- Assists both the PPF lead and the DC team lead with stock variance issues to ensure proper registration of pallets
- Maintains proper housekeeping in the outfeed area (sweeping, emptying trash/recycling bins and dumpsters)
- Attend any job-related training deemed necessary by supervision
- Follow all established standard operating procedures
- Perform general housekeeping duties as necessary
- Perform other tasks assigned by management
Knowledge, Experience, Certifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalency required.
- 6+ months forklift experience preferred
- Successful completion of all required on the job training.
- Successful completion of all required health and environmental safety training.
Competencies:
- Must be an effective team member.
- Good oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with others in the immediate work unit and in related support areas.
- Ability to follow simple verbal and written instructions.
- Must be able to operate a computer.
- Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations.
Physical Requirements / Other Pertinent Job Information:
- Frequently required to reach, handle, stand, walk, sit, and stoop.
- Work in a normal industrial environment with inherent background noise, dirt, humidity, and temperature variations.
- Requires regular lifting up to 40 pounds.
