Primary Objective:  In broad terms, briefly state the major purpose of primary objective of this position.

Quality Inspector for production and approval process.

Major Function and Scope: Using brief narrative statements, describe each major function of responsibility explaining the scope of the function as appropriate.

  • Guarantee that all production runs meet color and quality standards per master
  • Provide final product inspections to ensure defects are identified and correctly labeled
  • Conduct quality control testing for each production run as well as periodic testing for ASTM certifications to include tensile, tear, impression recovery, weight, thickness, and layer measurement tests
  • Identify systems and procedures to increase the accuracy of inspection and re-inspect processes
  • Assist in the initial production runs in manufacturing to ensure production material is as close as possible visually to the standard
  • Maintain certification standards of all lab equipment on a yearly basis
  • Attend any job-related training deemed necessary by supervision 
  • Follow all established standard operating procedures 
  • Perform general housekeeping duties as necessary
  • Perform other tasks assigned by management

 

Type of Experience and Knowledge:

Knowledge, Experience, Certifications: Describe the education, knowledge required, years of experience, specific skills and abilities required to do the job on a fully competent basis.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Lift Truck Certification preferred
  • Successful completion of all required on the job training
  • Successful completion of all required health and environmental safety training
  • May be required to use department specific database systems
  • Previous experience with quality systems required
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing and / or six sigma methodology preferred
  • Must have superior color vision

Competencies:  Describe the specific skills required for this position in terms of technical, managerial, interpersonal skills and unique abilities.

  • Operate in a team-based environment
  • Basic math skills
  • Highly skilled on computers, especially Microsoft Suite
  • Operate various test equipment and the software that goes with it
  • Work independently in a fast-paced work environment
  • Problem-solving skills
