Inspect and insure the quality of materials coming off the Sanders and Book Saw are held within company specifications as well as observe machine operations in the vicinity and report any abnormalities.
Major Function and Scope: Using brief narrative statements, describe each major function of responsibility explaining the scope of the function as appropriate. |
- Perform daily quality checks on all materials coming off the book saw per internal requirements.
- Recognize and identify defects on edges and surface of boards. Communicate these to the operator and/or lead. Inform QC department of anything that needs to be put on hold.
- Ensure stack heights are accurate on materials leaving the book saw.
- Ensure damaged material is pulled out of A-grade material and rejected.
- Use a PC for data entry and pallet label creation. Must be familiar with the basic functions of a mouse and keyboard.
- Enter information into the QC Databases.
- Use SAP to perform required inventory transactions including but not limited to:
- Goods Receipts for finished goods.
- Print and Apply pallet labels.
- Identify batch numbers and record them as necessary
- Reverse a GR when necessary
- Scrap material out of inventory when taking samples or when material is damaged
- Operate manual controls for the book saw, and conveyors leading to the packaging line.
- Determine when to “go off line” with pallets as to not stop production.
- Operate and maintain packaging line. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Loading runners into the magazine rack.
- Change banding spools when empty.
- Navigate HMI (Load correct recipes for packaging, identify and clear alarms, operate machine in manual when needed, etc.)
- Troubleshoot issues with packaging line. Assist maintenance with repairs.
- Perform light maintenance per PM schedule.
- Help Sanding operators in light maintenance performed on the saw/sander including preventive maintenance on scheduled down days.
- Assist in identifying saw problems and notify Operators and/or Team Leaders.
- Assist the operator/lead in belt changes as well as any complication regarding belts. (Run off, rupture, height limits, etc.)
- Assist Operators with blade changes.
- Operate a battery powered banding tool when necessary.
- Participate in housekeeping duties when necessary.
- Communicate with proper etiquette via two-way radio with crew members.
- Observes safe work practices in compliance with the safety policy.
- Must be able to communicate and verify correct LOTO procedure for the sander, booksaw, and automated bander.
- Assist the operator/lead with sander start-up in the absence of one. (After belt changes and prolonged shut down)
- Accurately record batches that go on hold and communicate with lift operator on destinations
- Prepare pallets for offline stacking when necessary and re-entry onto the packaging line
- Assist forklift driver with hopper swap and occasionally taking hoppers out to the Zeno
- Operate a forklift in the absence of the driver (getting fuel, taking out hoppers, etc.) to take pallets down as not to stop production
- Complete other duties as assigned.

- Must not have any limitations in regards to working in confined spaces
- Must be able to sit and drive forklift on uneven driving surface.
- Must have vision of 20/50 with corrective lenses if needed.
