Primary Objective:  In broad terms, briefly state the major purpose of primary objective of this position.

This position will be trained on the visual monitoring of the Energy Plant, Refining, and gluing areas for unfamiliar noises, leaks and possible equipment failures as well as housekeeping duties. Also, assists the Press Operator in the operations of the air graders, forming station, and press line.

Major Function and Scope: Using brief narrative statements, describe each major function of responsibility explaining the scope of the function as appropriate.

  • Monitors the continuous production of product through the air graders, forming line and press.
  • Monitors raw board quality
  • Communicates with Press Operators to maintain stable and consistent production
  • Monitors furnace, thermal oil pumps, resin pumps and lines, steam generator and refiner by making periodic rounds
  • Identifies process variation
  • Communicates with Refiner and Energy Plant operators to maintain stable and consistent production
  • Assists in executing plant shut downs
  • Obtains resin samples from delivery trucks
  • Performs basic maintenance related tasks
  • Assists maintenance personnel in performing technical work
  • Attend any job-related training deemed necessary by supervision
  • Follow all established standard operating procedures
  • Perform general housekeeping duties as necessary
  • Perform other tasks assigned by management

 

Type of Experience and Knowledge:

Knowledge, Experience, Certifications: Describe the education, knowledge required, years of experience, specific skills and abilities required to do the job on a fully competent basis.

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment a plus
  • Some mechanical skills a plus

Competencies:  Describe the specific skills required for this position in terms of technical, managerial, interpersonal skills and unique abilities.

  • Must be able to work 12 hour day/night shifts to cover absences or PTO
  • Must also be able to relieve FEL drivers for breaks, lunches and vacations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Must be able to climb vertical ladders, multiple flights of stairs and work off elevated surfaces.
  • Must not have any limitations in regards to working in confined spaces
  • Must be able to sit and drive forklift on uneven driving surface.
  • Must have vision of 20/50 with corrective lenses if needed.
