What we need:

Mohawk is looking for a Maintenance Planning Manager to drive planning, scheduling, and storeroom excellence across the site.  This role provides direction for planners, schedulers, and storeroom operations while ensuring high-quality job planning, accurate materials readiness, and disciplined work management. This role will own maintenance planning governance, oversee weekly and long-range schedules, and lead the preparation and execution of major downtime events.

What you’ll do:

  • Provide leadership, direction, and performance management for Maintenance Planners/Schedulers and the Storeroom Supervisor, ensuring clear role ownership, expectations, and accountability.
  • Establish standard work, priorities, and planning horizons for planners and schedulers to ensure consistent, high-quality job planning and scheduling discipline.
  • Set expectations for storeroom performance, inventory accuracy, and service levels through the Storeroom Supervisor rather than direct task execution.
  • Coach and develop team members to improve planning quality, schedule adherence, materials readiness, and data accuracy.
  • Own and govern the site maintenance work management process, ensuring work is properly scoped, planned, and ready prior to scheduling and execution.
  • Review and approve planning standards, job plan quality expectations, and backlog management strategies established by the planning team.
  • Ensure alignment between maintenance priorities, equipment criticality, production needs, and planned downtime opportunities.
  • Partner with Maintenance Managers, Engineering, and Operations to ensure maintenance planning supports asset reliability and production objectives.
  • Provide oversight and strategic direction for weekly and daily maintenance scheduling developed by planners and schedulers.
  • Own accountability for monthly maintenance down days, ensuring scope definition, resource alignment, materials readiness, and execution sequencing are established and adhered to.
  • Lead long range planning and coordination for biannual maintenance down weeks, ensuring work is identified, planned, resourced, and staged well in advance.
  • Ensure Down Days and Down Weeks are governed by clear scope control, readiness reviews, and execution expectations to minimize risk and reactive work.
  • Provide managerial oversight of contractor planning and utilization in support of scheduled down days and extended shutdowns.
  • Ensure planners appropriately integrate contractor scope, labor hours, skill requirements, and sequencing into maintenance plans and schedules.
  • Partner with procurement, safety, and maintenance leadership to ensure contractors are properly qualified, aligned, and prepared to execute work safely and efficiently.
  • Hold planners and supervisors accountable for effective contractor coordination and cost control during planned events.
  • Serve as the site owner for maintenance work management governance within the CMMS, with strong emphasis on SAP Plant Maintenance (PM) usage and discipline.
  • Champion potential CMMS integration with SAP
  • Establish expectations for work order lifecycle management, including planning, releasing, scheduling, confirmation, and close‑out accuracy.
  • Review and act on KPIs related to planning effectiveness, schedule compliance, PM compliance, backlog health, and materials availability.
  • Ensure planners, supervisors, and storeroom leadership are trained and compliant with SAP standards and processes.
  • Provide managerial oversight of storeroom operations through the Storeroom Supervisor, ensuring inventory accuracy, transaction discipline, and material availability.
  • Ensure kitting and staging processes support scheduled maintenance work and downtime events without direct involvement in daily storeroom activities.
  • Align storeroom strategies with maintenance planning requirements, critical spare strategies, and reliability objectives.
  • Drive cost savings on non-OEM parts and materials, working with vendors, purchasing, and internal customers.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support evolving business priorities

What you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • 6-8 years’ relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1-3 years of management experience.
  • PMP Certification Preferred.

What you’re good at:

  • Demonstrated experience leading or governing scheduled maintenance down days, outages, or extended shutdowns.
  • Strong experience using a CMMS, with preference for SAP Plant Maintenance (PM).
  • Working knowledge of storeroom/parts room and MRO inventory management concepts.
  • Requires specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise in own job discipline or field.
  • Focused on and responsible for their team's productivity and collective impact.
  • Excellent communication, problem solving, and organizational skills.
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, delegate, and manage time effectively.
  • High level of integrity and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential data.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite products.
  • Flexible attitude, adaptable to change, team player, and able to handle multiple projects at once.
