What we need:

 

The Sr Field Designer is a high performing contributor that is responsible for translating design concepts into real-world environments and ensuring that products meet user needs in practical, on-site applications. This role involves collaboration with design teams, project managers, and field personnel to bridge the gap between design intent and on-the-ground implementation.

 

What you’ll do:

 

  • Support the creation of fashion forward design collections for distribution.
  • Continually learn new product knowledge and acquire improved designing skills across all our product categories.
  • Stay abreast of design trends, competition, competitive issues, products, and existing and potential markets for Mohawk products.
  • Attend sales meetings, conferences, marketing seminars and trade shows.
  • Secure business within specific geographical areas by managing and initializing new projects as well as new business opportunities.
  • Develop design briefs through order directly with key clients and work alongside sales and support teams.
  • Develop improved insight into client’s needs and expectations; use to improve response times and client dependency and trust.
  • Ensure that design solutions fit manufacturing criteria (manufacturability) for installation.
  • Provide feedback and full details on client requirements to assigned production teams that enables the design work to be carried out effectively.
  • Identify new clients and projects which warrant a ‘specialist’ design service.
  • Manage the interaction between design/sales support, project management, administration, and production.
  • Liaise with Creative Design to develop trend analysis and mood boards to define future color and design direction for hospitality markets.
  • Coordinate market visits for marketing research to develop knowledge and awareness and provide market intelligence.
  • Develop and give presentations to key accounts to promote Mohawk (Durkan) hospitality carpets, emphasizing how our design-led initiatives can improve their performance.
  • Adhere to the corporate brand guidelines.
  • Performs other duties as needed.

What you have:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent education and/or experience.
  • 2-4 years’ relevant experience or equivalent education and/or experience.
  • Experience using computer design tools (ex. Photoshop, Illustrator, Texcelle, etc.) required.
  • Experience using Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) preferred.
  • Experience in a print/publication environment preferred.
  • Technical knowledge of roto-gravure printing, digital printing, and flooring production processes preferred.
  • For colorist-specific role, must be able to pass a colorblind test.

  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • High level of integrity and discretion in handling sensitive data.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite products.
