Primary Objective:  In broad terms, briefly state the major purpose of primary objective of this position.

Removes/replaces loom beams using tie-in equipment.  

 

Major Function and Scope: Using brief narrative statements, describe each major function of responsibility explaining the scope of the function as appropriate.

  • Warp Changer duties include:
    • Remove empty beam from loom
    • Load new loom beam in loom, rack and tie beams, break down tie frame, and pull knots through drop wires/heddles/reed
    • Install loom beam by spinning loom over from FA side while using the breaker bar o Grease/oil harness drives, bearings, and beam stand at each warp out
    • Remove oil pads from underneath tappet housing and loom, scrape grease, oil and clippings from underneath loom and tappet housing 
    • Determine loom beam to be used and remove loom beam from inventory, using computer o Use warp truck to transport loom beam from storage area to loom o Repair broken ends, remove loom safety pin, start loom, and check quality o Assists personnel in drawing reeds
    • Use beam gear hand truck to remove beam gear o Use waste pull off machine to remove waste from beams o Assist Material Coordinators by staging fill yarn at looms
  • Attend any job-related training deemed necessary by supervision 
  • Follow all established standard operating and safety procedures as well as company policies
  • Perform general housekeeping duties as necessary
  • Perform other tasks assigned by management

Type of Experience and Knowledge:

Knowledge, Experience, Competencies and Supervision: Describe the education, knowledge required, years of experience, specific skills and abilities required to do the job on a fully competent basis.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Lift Truck Certification preferred
  • Successful completion of all required on the job training
  • Successful completion of all required health and environmental safety training
  • Basic computer knowledge to enter data into inventory tracking software
  • Prior experience as a Weaver or Beamer Operator preferred
  • Knowledge of weaving procedures, quality assurance standards and product specifications  

 

Competencies:  Describe the specific skills required for this position in terms of technical, managerial, interpersonal skills and unique abilities.

                         JOB DESCRIPTION

         

  • Fill out forms/check sheets
  • Perform mathematical calculations, such as addition and subtraction  
  • Determine and execute work priorities to maximize production and minimize machine down time
  • Ability to safely operate weaving machines, including starting and stopping the machine, threading yarn breaks, and tying knots. 
  • Follow a series of complex and specific steps to rack and tie correctly
  • Trouble shoot and take steps to correct issues and maximize efficiency
  • Perform detailed work with yarn, including placing ends correctly through a series of small openings
  • Utilizing hand/power tools and equipment
