Primary Objective: In broad terms, briefly state the major purpose of primary objective of this position. |
Performs standard quality assurance tests on warp and fill yarn and limited tests on finished fabric. Ensures that fabric meets finished quality standards (width). Maintains data documentation. Perform other related duties assigned by management.

- Retrieves yarn samples from warp and fill line in the Extrusion area.
- Puts yarn samples through a variety of tests (denier, shrinkage, elongation, and width).
- Tests fabric samples for shrinkage, amount of lube and checks pick count.
- Enters test results in computer system.
- Distributes copies of test results to appropriate persons and put copy in line book.
- Creates weekly reports:
- Extrusion poundage and waste;
- Beaming yards per set, shift production report
- Prepares paperwork for warp crew to complete. Verifies that warp crew issued all beams. Notify Supervisor of discrepancies.
- Calibrates Quality Assurance equipment (oven).
- Walk looms and verify lube is being put on the loom beams, if needed.
- Measure fabric width on looms and report out-of-spec (narrow) fabric to the supervisor.
- Test samples as requested.
- Test resin for moisture content, melt, and weight.
- Participate in Safety programs and Neighborhood Watch.
- Works safely and orderly.
- Notify supervision of any hazardous or unsafe conditions.
- Maintains clean and orderly work area.
- Perform all necessary miscellaneous work pertaining to the above job duties.
- Any other duties assigned by management.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE PREREQUISITES:
Mandatory – Must be able to read and write in manner indicated on job application.
Preferred – Intermediate computer skills to access data files on a shared network and complete data entry tasks.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to work assigned schedule. Ability to learn job specific computer skills. Ability to record data and read charts.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Reports to shift supervisor/department manager, but works with minimum amount of supervision.
DIRECTION EXERCISED:
Limited to personal activities required to perform duties of job.

- Ability to trouble shoot and correct data entry mistakes.
- Knowledge of or ability to learn Quality Assurance equipment and related safety requirements.
- Knowledge of or ability to learn Quality Assurance sampling and testing specifications and testing procedures for three (3) warp lines and two (2) fill lines.
- Knowledge of or ability to learn non-conforming material plans.
- Ability to operate and calibrate Quality Assurance equipment.
- Have good organizational skills and reporting.
- Knowledge of safety procedures per policies.
- Ability to record data and read charts.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Frequency – Amount – Description) STANDING / WALKING: Ability to stand or walk continuously during an eight (8) hour shift. SITTING: Ability to sit one half (1/2) hour in an eight (8) hour shift. MOVING SELF: Moves about Lab and plant continuously during an (8) hour shift. CLIMBING: Ability to ascend/descend stairs several times during an (8) hour shift. MOVING (MATERIALS): (Lifting – carrying – pushing – pulling) Pushing/pulling: Push not pull any movable type equipment. Get help when needed. Lifting/carrying: Ability to retrieve samples from Extrusion area and take to the Lab. Lift up to thirty (30) pounds without mechanical assistance. Get help when needed. HEARING / SPEAKING: Must be able to communicate with co-workers and management as needed to perform job. REACHING: Vertical- Ability to reach full arm extension to perform job duties. Horizontal- Ability to reach full arm extension to perform job duties. VISUAL ACUITY: Must have adequate normal, color vision and depth perception to perform job duties. Ability to utilize both far and near vision while performing job duties. Ability to read ruler markings and count picks. BENDING / STOOPING: Ability to bend, stoop, squat or kneel as needed during eight (8) hour shift to perform job duties. MENTAL ABILITIES: Ability to read and write. Ability to make decisions regarding work priorities. Ability to enter and retrieve data in computer system, operate printer, and communicate with others electronically. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. Ability to read a tape measure. OTHER: Fingering - Ability to demonstrate good tactile discrimination and functional sensation. Fine motor coordination - Ability to use denier board, shrinkage board, weight scales, open oven doors, manipulate samples of fill and warp yarn, computer keyboard, pen/pencil, notebooks, and tying knots. Grip - Ability to keep fill and warp ends in hands. Ability to grip hot knife. Ability to utilize both a one handed and two-handed grip.
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS: Must wear safety glasses with permanent side shields and hearing protection always when on the production floor. Must adhere to plant clothing and footwear policy. Wear personal protective equipment as required by task at hand. MACHINE, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT: Computer keyboard and printer, denier board, shrinkage board, metal square, hot knife, oven, weight scales, pen/pencil, notebooks, Instron machine, scissors, line books, width gauge, push buggy, ruler, sample jig, tape measure MATERIALS USED: Alcohol, fill and warp yarn, paper and tape. |
