Primary Objective: In broad terms, briefly state the major purpose of primary objective of this position. |
Maintains cleanliness of the plant. Performs general cleaning duties in breakrooms, restrooms, entrances and production areas. Cleans assigned looms by blowing off, mopping, and dusting. Operates floor scrubber in weaving department. Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

- Stock cart and pickup supplies from the supply room and vending machines: toilet tissue, paper towels, cups, cleaners, rags, can liners
- Clean assigned breakrooms once per shift. Sweep, mop, wipe tables, pick up trash, empty trash and recycling receptacles, replace paper towels, straighten tables and chairs, fill condiments and cups, clean windows, clean microwaves and coffee makers, stock coffee, creamer and sugar. Clean refrigerators on Tuesdays.
- Clean assigned restrooms. Clean mirrors, sinks, and toilets. Clorox drains as needed. Fill soap, tissue and towel dispensers. Sweep and mop. Wipe stall walls as needed. Empty trash receptacles.
- If assigned to clean the main breakroom, clean and straighten employee entrance. Clean windows, remove rubber mats to sweep and mop floors, replace rubber mats, remove trash and other items.
- Pickup string waste in assigned area of the weave room.
- Empty trash and recyclables in assigned areas of the weave room.
- Sweep weaving.
- Place and remove “Wet Floor” signs as needed throughout the plant.
- Clean up spills and leaking water. Empty buckets stationed at roof tarps as needed.
- Sweep and mop supervisor’s office and clean windows as needed.
- Operate the walk-behind floor scrubber as assigned. Clean the scrubber by removing brushes and trays and rinse with the water hose. Reinstall brushes and trays. Empty dirty water and refill with clean water and floor cleaner as necessary.
- Charge scrubber battery by hooking charger cable to the battery and turn on charger.
- Clean assigned looms: stop the machine, blow off the machines with compressed air, dust the windshield with a rag, restart the machine by pressing two start buttons (P7300 machines). If filling breaks, rethread the machine and attempt to restart. If machine won’t start, leave it down and continue to the next loom.
- Mop around assigned looms and replace oil mats as needed.
- Clean office areas, lobby and conference room on assigned days. Vacuum, empty garbage and recyclables, dust common areas, clean windows and doors as needed, wipe down counters and restock coffee station.
- General Duties:
- Maintain clean and orderly work area.
- Perform all necessary miscellaneous work pertaining to above job duties.
- Work safely and orderly.
- Notify supervision of any hazardous or unsafe conditions.
- Complete work orders as necessary for needed maintenance in breakrooms and restrooms.
- Any other duties assigned by management.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Frequency – Amount – Description) STANDING / WALKING: Ability to stand and walk continuously during a twelve (12) hour shift. SITTING: N/A MOVING SELF: Ability to move throughout the plant during a twelve (12) hour shift. CLIMBING: Ability to ascend / descend stairs to clean offices and conference room upstairs. MOVING (MATERIALS): (Lifting – carrying – pushing – pulling) Pushing/pulling – Push four-wheeled buggy containing cleaning supplies and equipment. Ability to push broom, mop and vacuum cleaner. Push not pull any (movable type) equipment. Get help when needed.Lifting/carrying – Lift up to fifty (50) pounds without mechanical assistance. Get help when needed. HEARING / SPEAKING: Must be able to communicate with co-workers and management as needed to perform job duties. REACHING: Vertical – Ability to reach full arm extension to perform job duties. Horizontal – Ability to reach full arm extension to perform job duties. VISUAL ACUITY: Must have adequate normal, color vision and depth perception to perform job duties. Ability to utilize both near and far vision while performing job duties. Must be able to pass basic vision test (20/40 vision with 70% peripheral vision) to receive operator’s license for powered industrial trucks (floor scrubber). BENDING / STOOPING: Ability to bend, stoop, squat or kneel as needed to perform job duties. MENTAL ABILITIES: Ability to make decisions regarding work priorities. OTHER: Fingering - Ability to demonstrate good tactile discrimination and functional sensation. Medium motor manipulation – Ability to manipulate small tools. Fine motor coordination – N/A Grip – Ability to utilize both a one handed and two-handed grip. SAFETY REQUIREMENTS: Must wear hearing protection, safety shoes and safety glasses with permanent side shields when in the warehouse and production areas. Must adhere to plant clothing and footwear policy. Wear personal protective equipment as required by task at hand: steel toed boots are required when operating floor scrubber; goggles must be worn when using compressed air. MACHINE, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT: Vacuum cleaner, regular and push brooms, dusters, mop, waste containers, buggy, squeegee, scraper, compressed air hose and nozzle, reed hook, scissors, water hose and powered industrial truck (walk behind scrubber). MATERIALS USED: Variety of cleaning supplies and cleaning solutions.
