Primary Objective:
This role is responsible for leading a production team in a manufacturing environment to achieve all plant and departmental Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost objectives within his or her scope of responsibility and manage the operational systems of the assigned department to ensure compliance and successful execution.
Major Function and Scope:
• Scheduling of people, machines, materials, and support services to achieve maximum team efficiency in meeting production requirements.
• Ensuring team is properly stocked on tools and supplies needed for their daily tasks.
• Ensure team members are trained to guarantee proper skill sets are developed and improved on daily.
• Monitors production on shift and leads team to accomplish production and quality goals.
• Documents and reports any issues affecting production and report any maintenance needs in SAP.
• Responsible for making production and personnel decisions on a “by shift” basis under guidance from management.
• Coordinates with maintenance to perform maintenance tasks, ensuring equipment is shutdown and prepared to be worked on safely.
• Demonstrate effective problem-solving skills to address issues affecting production or where to direct resources on a shift basis.
• Effectively communicates with peers, team members, leadership team and technical staff.
• Facilitate team meetings. (pre-shift)
• Ensures performance evaluations and counseling sessions are conducted in a constructive manner.
• Approves employee time in Kronos, makes corrections to employee schedules, and conducts counseling sessions along Mohawk guidelines for attendance. This is on a daily basis
• Translate company objectives in SQDC into action plans.
• Ensures compliance with all company policies, safety rules and procedures.
• Reads and analyzes charts, work orders, or production schedules to determine production requirements.
• Uses information systems (Kronos, Teams, SharePoint, WinCC, Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
• Audits work areas and enforces safety and housekeeping policies.
• Performs other tasks as assigned by management.
• Works with Human Resources Department to hire, train, and develop manufacturing personnel in the execution of their responsibilities.
• Attend any job-related training deemed necessary by supervision.
• Follow all established standard operating procedures.
• Perform general housekeeping duties as necessary.
• Perform unplanned work organized by management.
Type of Experience and Knowledge:
• 1 - 3 years of supervisory experience
• 3 - 5 years of automated manufacturing experience
• Lean and Six Sigma tools experience preferred.
• Basic understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics, motors, basic electricity, gear boxes, and tools.
• Excellent computer skills including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
• Strong math skills including the knowledge of arithmetic, basic algebra, geometry, and statistics, and their implements.
• Organizational and time management skills.
Competencies:
• Associate degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering or closely related discipline preferred, or equivalent work-related experience preferred.
• Knowledge of production processes, quality control concepts, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacturing of goods
• Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, allocation of resources, and coordination of personnel.
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization, and the ability to motivate, develop, and direct subordinates.
• Possess an exceptional attention to detail.
• Self-motivated.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Hands on problem solver.
Physical Requirements / Other Pertinent Job Information:
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule to support 24/7 manufacturing operations.
• Must be able to walk long distances, safely lock out equipment to remove material. Stand for long periods of time. Bending, crouching, and stooping may be required. Must also be able to work in non-climate-controlled facilities. Work environment is a noisy, high traffic manufacturing production floor.
• Must observe all safety requirements dictated by Mohawk.
