What we need:

Mohawk is looking for a Sr. Manager for our Control Room. This role will proactively lead continuous improvement teams that monitors the manufacturing processes, utilizing PAC, WinCC OA and InfinityQS to provide instant feedback of process excursions for corrective action. This role oversees the day-to-day operation of the flooring central control room and leads improvement teams at the sites focused on eliminating process excursions and alarms to drive reductions in customer claims, internal off quality and waste.    

 

What you’ll do:

  • Lead a team of hourly technicians to deliver timely, accurate alarm data to manufacturing; facilitate alarm pareto reviews and drive cross-site action plans.
  • Develop and support team members in areas including employee relations, goal setting, performance management, scheduling, and problem-solving.
  • Manage cross-functional projects across various manufacturing operations (e.g., carpet, yarn, extrusion, backing, pad) to improve quality, compliance, and financial outcomes.
  • Collaborate with site leadership to define improvement opportunities, implement processes, and measure results using metrics and business trends.
  • Oversee compliance, quality, and financial reporting systems; manage operating and capital budgets in partnership with leadership.
  • Lead initiatives to monitor new processes in the Central Control Room aimed at reducing claims, off-quality, and waste.
  • Recommend policy changes and establish procedures to enhance organizational effectiveness while ensuring alignment with company standards.
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration, guide project teams, and contribute to strategic decision-making through data analysis and business case development.

 

What you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (preferred) and 8–10 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3–5 years of management experience, including supervising hourly employees in a 24/7, multi-shift operation.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt certification and demonstrated expertise in process improvement methodologies.
  • Strong knowledge and practical application of Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Proven ability to lead teams and drive operational excellence in complex manufacturing environments.

 

What you’re good at:

  • Leading teams effectively, delegating tasks without micromanaging, and driving team productivity.
  • Understanding organizational goals and aligning team efforts to broader business objectives.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills; able to multitask and prioritize.
  • High integrity and discretion when handling sensitive or confidential information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience developing Power BI reports, including SQL query development.
  • Skilled in statistical analysis using Minitab (ANOVA, DOE, capability studies) and knowledgeable in SPC methodologies.
  • Familiarity with advanced tools and platforms such as InfinityQS, Siemens WinCC OA, Trendminer, Pi Vision, and Python coding environments (e.g., Jupyter Notebook, Google Colab).
  • Adaptable, professional, and resourceful; able to manage multiple projects and work effectively in dynamic environments.

 

What else?

  • Will be responsible for direct reports and some travel is required
  • Occasional exposure to hazardous conditions caused by noise, moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, and other conditions associated with a high-traffic production floor
  • Must be able to walk long distances, stand for long periods of time and lift 50 pounds regularly
  • May be required to work a flexible schedule to include evening and night shifts, weekends, and holidays.
