Primary Objective
Will be responsible for the operation of the extrusion line to include feed, extrusion, calandering, lamination, unwinders, embossing, lacquer, stackers, SAP/MES and AGV, while also maintaining equipment, troubleshooting mechanical/electrical issues, and repairing mechanical equipment. Preventative maintenance processes must be followed and maintained. Must take part in diagnosis of production, quality, mechanical and/or safety issues and implement corrective actions as needed. Utilize lean manufacturing processes to drive process improvement and improve uptime.
Major Function and Scope
Maintenance
- Lead root cause analysis for equipment failures.
- Drive process improvements with lean tools such as 5S, TPM, and PM schedules.
- Receive assignments from Departmental Supervisors.
- Must keep equipment on SPC Line in good working order, including manufacturing equipment, utilities equipment, maintenance tools and equipment, and other miscellaneous items. Equipment requiring specialized skills may be serviced through a contracted service contractor.
- Troubleshooting equipment and systems, including various rotating equipment, plant utility systems, and manufacturing processes.
- Must fill out job reports, calibration reports, and checklists in a timely and accurate manner.
- Account for equipment downtime and parts consumed during the shift in SAP
- Must work with all maintenance personnel and outside contractors to keep equipment operational.
- Must be able and willing to participate in specific product training as required.
- Must be willing to assist in areas not typically defined as maintenance during special times of need.
- Perform multi craft functions within your current level of training and ability.
- Wear appropriate PPE and promote a safe working environment.
Production
- Enter data into SAP.
- Inspect quality of processed material, noting size and dimension accuracies for a quality final product.
- Responsible for overall thickness variation inspection, gloss inspection and defect inspection of lamination product, as well as, monitoring and adjusting in process.
- Perform proper and efficient changeovers.
- Use the correct settings on assigned equipment.
- Prevent defects through the process.
- Follow setup and run procedures, safety and quality procedures as documented.
- Must be willing and able to stand for long periods of time and work flexible hours.
- Maintain a clean and efficient work area.
- Complete all documentation accurately.
- Make machine adjustments when necessary.
- Must follow the quality management system policy and procedures.
- Communicate production or quality issues to appropriate team members.
- Inspect and sort off quality product when needed.
- Operate lift truck, overhead crane, and hoist.
- Verify correct orders are being ran (style, color, stamp, labeling, packaging)
- Complete all documentation in infinity, ME, and excel spreadsheets accurately
- Responsible for the operation of the robot in the stacker section of the line, opening closing orders, entering information into MES, and calling for AGV’s.
- Responsible for lacquer operations, including correct machine settings. Must operate within the specified parameters and specifications.
- Responsible for extrusion and calandering.
- Responsible for calling the correct print and wear film rolls to the line, staging, and production.
Type of experience and knowledge
- Must have a High School diploma, GED or higher
- At least 3 years’ experience in an industrial maintenance environment
- Must be able to read and interpret mechanical drawings.
- Must be able to work with outside OEM Technicians and learn systems from them.
- Must be able to use common power and hand tools typical of industrial mechanical maintenance. Some basic welding and machine tool (lathe, mill, etc) operation skills are expected.
- Production and Quality experience desired.
