What we need:
The Quality Engineer is a high performing contributor that serves as a subject matter expert and works to facilitate and support Quality function and projects by influencing others to resolve a wide range of quality issues. This role works closely with raw materials, finished goods, manufacturing processes, production, distribution, claims, and customer service personnel to identify quality issues and areas for improvement.
What you'll do:
- Assist management in analyzing root causes and implementing corrective actions to maintain and upgrade product quality.
- Retrieve and perform inspections of materials returned from customers for claims review.
- Work to identify quality nonconformance and assess the need for internal corrective action.
- Mentor junior team members in determining the quality level of questionable materials.
- Review orders, equipment, or daily production regarding quality issues that may impact production and related processes.
- Communicate to management and appropriate Manufacturing personnel the results of product testing in a timely manner to ensure high product quality and integrity.
- May provide quality-related training and coaching to Manufacturing personnel.
- Compile data and generate reports to monitor performance of the production line, assisting management in analyzing root causes of quality problems.
- May partner with Customer Service or Claims department in researching and resolving quality issues.
- Work to determine the ultimate use or disposition of non-conforming material with the goal of maximizing use and profitability while minimizing the number of off-quality materials and waste.
- Work closely with plant management to complete special projects as needed to support quality objectives and continuous improvement efforts.
- Successfully lead after-action reviews to identify, document, and share lessons learned.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to evaluate technical, system, and process improvements.
- Perform other duties as needed.
What you have:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
- 4-6 years’ relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Root cause analysis experience desirable.

- Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
- High level of integrity and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential data.
- Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite products.
- Flexible attitude, adaptable to change, team player, and able to handle multiple projects at once.
- High degree of professionalism, judgment, maturity, and resourcefulness in the absence of formalized guidelines and procedures.
What else?
- Occasional exposure to hazardous conditions caused by noise, moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, and other conditions associated with a high-traffic production floor.
- Must be able to walk long distances and stand for long periods of time.
- Must be willing to travel to warehouses and receiving locations of site to review and collect finished products for claim reviews.
- Bending, crouching, and stooping may be required.
- Must be able to work in non-climate-controlled facilities.
- The work environment may be a noisy, high traffic manufacturing production floor.
- May be required to work a flexible schedule to include evening and night shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- The ability to wear personal protective gear correctly most of the day.
- The ability to lift 50 pounds regularly.
