Saturday, Monday, Tuesday plus 1 other day as needed  7 am - 7 pm

 

Responsible for performing and providing physical testing to support product certification requirements. Also provides ad hoc testing to support manufacturing operations. Carries out laboratory methods per ASTM, AATCC, CE, etc. standardized instructions. Requires a good understanding of color technology, use of tensile testers, compress-o-meters, standardized scales, fadeometers. Requires the understanding of math functions to correct formulas, calculate results, and compare to expected values. Uses AS400, Excel, Word, Office suite, etc. to enter and communicate results. Promotes and supports safety. Understands and uses various PPE as required to safely complete tasks per Federal/State compliance program requirements.

 

 

What you will do

Tests for color quality with respect to NOx, OZONE, and lightfastness.

  • Cut and prepare samples per method instructions.
  • Maintains all standards in Physical Lab.
  • Perform analysis per standardized methods.
  • Review and report results.

 

Has knowledge of all physical testing instruments, and all related testing and job function procedures.

  • Knowledge of carpe! construction basis.
  • (See training schedule).
  • Performs FHA battery of tests. (Approximately 14 tests.)
  • Knowledge of color science/ basic math functions; use of Excel spreadsheets, database, & AS400.

  • Pile weight
  • Tuft bind
  • Delamination
  • Breaking strength
  • Pile crush
  • Velcro test (to see how well the fiber is trapped by latex.)
  • Latex weight
  • Static
  • Smoke density
  • Radian! panel
  • FAA Vertical burn test
  • Soiling
  • Chair caster
  • Household stain battery (wine, beer, juice, Kool-Aid, mustard, spaghetti sauce, etc.)
  • Coefficient of friction
  • CPSC flammability (AKA pill testing)

 

Housekeeping

  • Keep the lab area clean and equipment functioning.
  • Empty the trash, maintain recycler, dispose of used materials. o    Collects waste for reuse.

 

What you have:

  • High School diploma. Critical! thinking and applications of processes required.
  • 3 to 5 years working in related areas.
  • Communication skills to insure organization alignment and execution in multi-shift environment. Competent use of Microsoft Office tools.
