What we need:

Mohawk is seeking an IT Support Specialist who under general supervision performs analytical, technical and administrative work in the planning, design, installation, and maintenance of new and existing PC/laptops systems consistent with Company policy and procedures.  Configures and installs software for IT users’ desktops and laptops. Involved in the installation and roll-out of new software packages, upgrades and new desktop hardware..


What you’ll do:

  • Provide 2nd level technical support for production equipment for local and remote locations including: network laser and impact printers, host controllers, thin client, terminals and RF equipment, including access points, hand held scanners, vehicle mounted scanners and thermal printers. Properly diagnose and resolve software and hardware configuration problems.
  • Troubleshoots problems using checklists as guides. Escalates to Tier 3 support when necessary. Documents problems and resolutions.
  • Determines the nature of problems, resolving those problems when possible. Attempts to predict potential points of failure through monitoring and testing; recommending and/or taking appropriate measures to prevent such occurrences.
  • Works closely with IT Management, support center personnel and other IT technicians and application staff members
  • Has collaborative working relationship with outside vendors, which will help to enhance service delivery capabilities
  • Establish and maintain technical documentation and assists in adherence to standards and procedures of the Company
  • Receive and provide initial evaluation of PC support and LAN problems, referring as needed to Network Administration  those requiring technical support
  • Proactively recommend courses of action to maintain cost effectiveness and competitiveness
  • Performs other duties as requested by Management


What you have:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Computer Science or related discipline required.  Knowledge of common concepts, practices and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform functions of the job.
  • Two years related experience in Technical support, including thorough knowledge of PC architecture, operating systems and major peripheral equipment including monitors, printers, etc.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing field helpful

  • Ability to conduct studies, and access internal and external communication practices
  • Organizational ability to redirect skills to support new technologies while maintaining current commitments; ability to perform in a high pressure environment and/or crisis situation and render good decisions to resolve the problems, maintain safety and ensure adherence to Corporate Code of Conduct
  • Assist in Management and maintenance of computer and software license records and lists and also in determining PC equipment and software needs, sources and pricing of equipment
