Primary Objective:  In broad terms, briefly state the major purpose of primary objective of this position.

Set up, operate and tend to a large number of machines organized into a frame that twist yarn together.

Major Function and Scope: Using brief narrative statements, describe each major function of responsibility explaining the scope of the function as appropriate.

  • Creel single or double ply yarn packages.
  • Loads yarn into twister.
  • Reposition buggies of yarn at the twisters.
  • Threading ends of single yarns and operating the spindle.
  • Doffing twisted yarn packages, transferring packages from conveyor to a buggy
  • Monitor production output and machine equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Clean and dechoke spindles to maintain machine efficiency to meet production requirements.
  • Stays informed of applicable OSHA and company guidelines and operating procedures, and proactively identifies unsafe working, building, and other environmental conditions to management and/or appropriate department for resolution. 
  • Ensures compliance to all company and regulatory safety and environmental guidelines and practices to include wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment, using the appropriate tools and equipment, and exercising the required safety behaviors for the task at hand.
  • Assist in keeping working area in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Obey all safety rules and regulations
  • Immediately report to supervision all hazards, accidents, and/or injuries, no matter how slight
  • Attend any job-related training deemed necessary by supervision
  • Follow all established standard operating procedures
  • Perform general housekeeping duties as necessary
  • Perform other tasks assigned by management

 

Years of Experience and Knowledge:

Knowledge, Experience, Certifications: Describe the education, knowledge required, years of experience, specific skills and abilities required to do the job on a fully competent basis.

    • Previous Yarn or Manufacturing experience is preferred

 

Competencies:  Describe the specific skills required for this position in terms of technical, managerial, interpersonal skills and unique abilities.

  • Ability to read and write numbers.
  • Pays attention to details.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions
  • Ability to deal with problems involving variables in standardized situations
