Minimum Qualifications:

• Ability to view and discern similar colors.
• High school diploma or GED equivalency required.
• Successful completion of on-the-job training programs.
• Reads and writes in standard English and proficient performing basic math calculations such as addition and subtraction.
• Frequently required to reach, handle, stand, walk, sit, and stoop.
• Occasionally required to kneel. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently throughout a 10- hour shift.
• Work in a normal industrial environment with inherent background noise, dirt, humidity, and temperature variations. Working conditions include hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, and noise.
• Requires standing more than 2/3 of time.

Job Tasks:

• Confirms carpet matches color guide and that requested size meets requirements of product.
• Trims tape off from carpet rolls and unrolls desired portion.
• Scans roll ticket into AS400 system (Sample Cut Processing screen) to determine width and quantity of strips needed.
• Sets distance between inline rotary knives used to cut strips.
• Trims small strip off from roll to confirm squareness of subsequent cuts.
• Cuts strip(s) using automated rotary carpet knife equipment inlaid in table after measuring cut width.
• Continues to feed carpet strip into inline knives to cut strips.
• Enters number of cuts made and enters the number of feet and inches leftover, if any, on a roll if different than what system states.
• Prints cut ticket from AS400 and scans ticket to a conveyor location.
• Prints new Unit ID ticket. • Rolls/strips less than 12" in length are not put back in inventory
• Rolls/strips less than 4’ in length are folded or rolled lengthwise and not placed back on core.
• Uses hand tools to sharpen rotary blades.
• Requires ability to view and discern similar colors and be able to determine pile direction of swatches.
• Performs cleanup of area when not performing normal duties (between jobs or waiting).
• Follows established quality and safety standards.
•  Performs general maintenance on equipment.
• Other duties as requested by management.
