What we need:

 

Mohawk is looking for a Safety Specialist II to do more for Mohawk by supporting an accident-free workplace, implementing safety policies and programs, providing training, generating and maintaining safety documentation, and helping to ensure compliance with state and federal laws within the assigned facility or location.

 

 

What you’ll do:

 

  • Work with operational leaders to identify and correct potentially hazardous situations or procedures
  • Observe and monitor employee behavior and communicate with employees in real-time to correct the hazardous behavior to reduce workplace injuries, improve regulatory compliance and improve the safety culture of the facility
  • Review and update Job Safety Analysis documents to identify and avoid work-related hazards by outlining specific work procedures required to perform each job safely and effectively
  • Participate in accident and incident investigations, including conducting employee interviews, to determine root causes of an event; summarize and make recommendations regarding corrective actions necessary to prevent additional accidents
  • Conduct plant audits and implements safety policies and programs to maintain compliance with local, state, and federal law
  • Collaborate with other divisional safety professionals to share best practices and improve safety throughout the company

 

 

What you have:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline
  • Or a minimum of 5 years of related experience
    • (An equivalent combination of education and training can be used)
  • Thorough understanding of OSHA safety disciplines, other regulatory guidelines, and common industrial safety practices

  • Communicating and negotiating effectively with a wide range of internal and external individuals in written, oral and interpersonal form 
  • Honing your ability to persuade, market, and sell new ideas based on culture, audience, and business needs 
  • Achieving results through team efforts, challenging established practices, and drawing relevant conclusions 
  • Anticipating problem areas and implementing effective solutions before problems occur
  • Exercising independent judgment and demonstrating solid time management and organizational skills, including the ability to meet tight deadlines and schedules

  • Working conditions range from average office or classroom environment to high-traffic production floor (including occasional to frequent exposure to minor hazards and safety requirements while performing routine job tasks)
