Primary Objective:

In broad terms, briefly state the major purpose of primary objective of this position.

Responsible for the implementation of the product segment plan for engineered and solid hardwood flooring. Maintains close relationship with suppliers and Regional Sales Managers for awareness of customer needs and perspectives. This includes identification of appropriate markets and development of effective marketing strategies and tactics. Involvement through all stages of a product family’s lifecycle. Using established procedures and working under limited supervision, performs assigned tasks.

 

Major Function and Scope:

· Conduct market research and compile information for trend analysis in hard surface product categories.

· Gather intelligence on competitive product, pricing and promotion and compile analysis in each product category.

· Establish key contacts with field sales and dealer network to enhance market research/market intelligence collection.

· Responsible for product forecasting to determine appropriate inventory levels.

· Make strategic recommendations regarding product assortment that will address tactical issues.

· Validate product strategy and conduct product presentations and field sales/dealer training.

· Create new product positioning and establish recommended price points.

· Identify promotional opportunities and develop and execute comprehensive marketing plans and programs to support promotional activities for the Hardwood category to include sales promotions, POP information and performance reports.

· Ensures effective control of marketing activities and takes corrective action to guarantee that achievement of marketing objectives falls within designated budgets.

· Schedules and leads suppliers meetings and responsible for the Container Direct Program to increase gross sales and margin dollars.

· Manage sample budgets to control sample manufacturing expenses.

· Manage P & L to increase gross and operating income.

· Active involvement in making product presentations to major customers/field sales.

· Establish a working relationship with all internal customers, corporate and regional sales management

· Extensive travel in North America is required.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Type of Experience and Knowledge:

Knowledge, Experience, Competencies and Supervision:

· Four-year college degree in Marketing or related field with a minimum of 5 years successful sales and/or product marketing experience in the flooring industry.

· Demonstrated experience and working knowledge of the flooring industry and competitive challenges.

· Intermediate to advanced level proficiency in the following areas: Microsoft Office Suite,

· Previous project management experience in a cross-functional environment is required. Involving successfully organizing, planning, and executing large-scale projects from vision through implementation while fostering team collaboration and task commitment.

· Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills necessary to effectively exercise tact, discretion, judgment and diplomacy when interacting and/or negotiating with all levels of internal and external customers.

· Ability to manage/implement projects and contributes to concept development, and ability to identify, analyze and resolve business issues through solution-oriented projects.

· Ability to persuade market and sell new ideas.

Associates Supervised: 

May lead department projects providing work guidance to junior team members in areas such as checking work, answering questions, and providing performance information to management. May include indirect reporting relationships while working on major projects.
