DESCRIPTION:

 

Under general supervision, provide operations and administrative support to the transportation function along with external and internal customers. Follow documented procedures and processing standards to perform duties related to payroll compilation, processing, and verification in a professional manner meeting pre-determined timelines set forth by corporate.  Apply knowledge of the business and accepted industry standards to provide outstanding customer service ensuring thoroughness, accuracy, and completeness in administrative and operational support duties.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Prepares various key performance indicator reports for Senior Director of Transportation, Senior Manager of Fleet Operations, Manager of Fleet Operations and other management teams.
  • Responsible for corporate OTR driver payroll, OTR local driver payroll, and specific areas or operations not domiciled at the corporate campus at the direction of Senior Director of Transportation or Senior Manager of Fleet Operations.
  • Designated as primary point of contact (POC) to lend assistance or training for payroll associates not domiciled at corporate campus.
  • Coordinates daily pickups and deliveries of packages from OTR, OTR Local, Tifton, Sunnyvale, and Thomasville drivers.
  • Teams with the operations group as it relates to needed paperwork to include BOL’s, logs, etc.
  • Confirms all truck movements and trailer usage throughout the network to assure proper payroll and IFTA recognition.
  • Prepares and distributes weekly fuel surcharge report to internal and external contacts at the request of Senior Director of Transportation, Senior Manager of Fleet Operations, or Manager of Fleet Operations.
  • Provides administrative support to the Senior Director of Transportation, Senior Manager of Fleet Operations, and Manager of Fleet Operations scheduling meetings, travel arrangements, drafting correspondence, etc.
  • Responsible for timely payment of transportation tolls that are not captured by electronic tolling service. Researches questionable tolls and resolves as needed.
  • Oversee ordering of uniforms by compiling order forms, placing orders, distribution, and returns or exchanges as needed.
  • Driver liaison between operations and corporate safety teams to assure state and federal driver requirements are current to include, but not limited to, driver’s license, medical cards, physicals, etc.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

 

  • 3-5 years of experience in transportation industry.
  • Payroll experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of transportation payroll would be a plus.

 

COMPETENCIES:

 

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Excel and Word
  • Thorough understanding of external fleet payroll systems with an added emphasis on McLeod software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to prioritize assignments to achieve goals
  • Ability and comfort level to work with minimal supervision when required
