The role will be responsible for creating and maintaining business cycle documentation across the organization to ensure it accurately reflects the most-efficient and complete process inclusive of applicable controls. The role will also provide continuous education on best practices and areas for improvement based on analysis of documented processes. The individual will work with internal and external audit to validate controls are consistent and appropriately identified as key based on business risk. This person will also lead productivity initiatives across the finance organization, applying proven methods (Lean Six Sigma) and technologies to deliver fast-turn, high ROI results.  The position directly manages interns, analysts, and outside contractors while working closely with senior business leaders and being accountable for 15-20 active projects at any given point in time. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Lead Process Documentation and Control Updates
    • Ensure process documents reflect current activities and controls for all Flooring North America business cycles.
    • Work with internal and external audit to facilitate understanding and testing of key controls.
    • Assess existing and emerging risks/gaps with the business to implement controls and process changes to appropriately mitigate risk.
  • Manage Continuous Process Improvement Projects and Resources
    • Identify areas for process improvement through discussions with business personnel and other stakeholders as well as lead projects as defined by management.
    • Hire, train, and coach interns, analysts, RPA architects and accounting personnel.  Hold them accountable for project deliverables, risk management, and customer communication.
    • Justify and secure capital funding for projects, and control spending vs plan.
    • Develop the optimal strategies balancing in-sourcing, out-sourcing, speed, and cost.
  • Deploy Lean Six Sigma and Robotic Process Automation
    • Be the go-to resource for finance department and team members for RPA.
    • Develop policy for deciding RPA vs Shared Services vs No Action in relation to opportunities uncovered.
    • Ensure that projects are properly scoped for success.
    • Lead strategic initiatives involving IS and business leaders to constantly assess and evaluate RPA technology options.
    • Provide oversight of new and existing RPA assets, ensuring they are appropriately deployed or deactivated timely for the finance organization.

 

Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting strongly preferred, Finance or a related discipline preferred or requisite work experience.
  • CPA certification preferred.
  • 4-7 years of relevant experience in audit (with focus on SOX controls), or multi-topic accounting environment that includes journal entry preparation, G/L accounting, account reconciliations, and Fixed Assets.
  • SAP, Visio, and RPA software experience strongly preferred.
  • Proven track record for delivering strong results across multiple areas in parallel.
  • Hands-on experience in training and mentoring in Lean Six Sigma.
  • Advanced proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint, and the Internet.
  • Strong math and analytical skills to perform math calculations, interpret, adapt, known methods, system procedures or operating concepts to new situation
  • Excellent verbal and written communications, interpersonal, and presentation skills to effectively interact with Mohawk’s management personnel, internal population, and external business contacts.
  • Ability to effectively interact with and make presentations to senior executives, regulatory agencies, and other internal and external customers.
  • Self-driven and motivated with attention to detail and accuracy.  Demonstrates initiative with a clear business purpose in mind.
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse work group.
  • Ability to work independently, set priorities, and handle multiple tasks with concentration, speed, and accuracy to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and resourcefulness in the absence of formalized guidelines and procedures.
  • Ability to identify, analyze and resolve business issues through solution-oriented projects.
  • Ability to make sound decisions and resolve problems in a high-pressure environment and/or crisis.
