RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Responsible for color and design for Residential soft Product Portfolio
  • Manages Residential Soft design team in Product Studio and dye lab
  • Works closely with Product Management, Marketing, Development, Sales, R&D and Testing to develop an annual strategic plan that coordinates new launches with trending colors, designs, constructions and marries them to a B2B and/or consumer story
  • Provides input, data, samples, designs, etc. to the Product Development/Management team to help develop new products for future markets
  • Develops and tracks trending colors and patterns in the industry and within Mohawk. Provides data to the Product team
  • Develops product content to tell the fiber and carpet story that differentiates Mohawk from the competition.
  • Work with the different PD’s to finalize a General Development Plan for carpet that will guide the department in all price points and technologies
  • Important customer presentations including Retailers, Builders, Big Box, Buying Groups
  • Field visits to gather customer insight
  • Consumer surveys to gather insight   
  • Sales Team travel and calls to gather insight on product story
  • Responsible for product and content positioning
  • Traveling in market, visit customers, trend shows, etc.
  • Working on R&D projects to understand the benefits bring correct messaging
  • Create content for marketing and social media
  • Be a main voice with trade media
  • Create a library showing competitive product feature and benefits (Physical samples and digital)
  • Maintain the interdepartmental relationship
  • Create digital content for our customer to promote Mohawk products

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

 

  • Min Bachelor’s degree in Design; minimum of 10y in the consumer product industry, mainly related home furnishings: Experience (or a sound understanding) in manufacturing and R&D.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills necessary to effectively exercise tact, discretion, judgment and diplomacy when interacting and/or negotiating with all levels of internal and external customers.
  • Must have strong/proven organizational skills– high attention to detail and Self-Motivator – willing to take the initiative
  • Must be able to work highly independently
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret/ adapt system procedures or operating concepts to fit new situations.
  • Strong computer skills in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to use design software preferably Ned Graphics
