What we need:

 

Being a Designer at Mohawk means being on the cutting edge of fashion in flooring. This is an intermediate level design position working as internal support for Mohawk’s Design & Development departments, and we need someone with experience and passion in the field of textile and surface patterned design, and everything that entails. This is an opportunity to grow, learn and create more! Advanced training will be provided.

 

 

What you’ll do:

 

  • Use artistic skills, design principles and machine perimeters to develop technically accurate artwork in response to design requests, specific instruction or generic briefs while maintaining acceptable lead times
  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of Mohawk’s design guidelines, internal processes and technologies for daily use
  • Work within and maintain Mohawk’s copyright policies
  • Use industry-standard software to create technically accurate and aesthetically innovative designs for specific machine types
  • Engage in artwork reviews, mentoring sessions and team discussions for continuous development and increased knowledge of practical design skills, company and industry standards, and internal and external design expectations
  • Research flooring markets by participating in company-supported research methods such as trend reports, subscription materials and research outings
  • Interact positively with team members, sales and our broad customer base
  • Mentor designer staff as needed

 

 

What you have:

 

  • Four-year college degree in a related field (Textile/Graphic Design or Fine Art preferred) and a minimum of three years of flooring design experience
  • Understanding of design/color principles and concept
  • Proven artistic achievement and a comprehensive design portfolio
  • Familiarity with Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) is desired (Photoshop, Illustrator, Texcelle, etc.)
  • An understanding of fashion trends in flooring
