DESCRIPTION:

 

Provides expertise on U.S. Import /Export regulations, documentation and compliance matters and regulatory areas for US and Foreign Customs including assisting in Foreign Government Audits along with actual processing clearance of shipments for Imports and Exports related to Mohawk FNA (Flooring North America) and ROW (Rest of World).

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

· Prepares Import Customs entries for import shipments utilizing Editrade software connected to US customs.

· Monitors import and export entries for proper and timely release.  This is accomplished working directly with Steamship Lines/Forwarders/Foreign Vendors/US Customs for Imports, while Exports are accomplished by working with Foreign Brokers/Forwarders/Mohawk International CS/Foreign Vendors/etc.

· Insure proper coding of import and export entries to account for ADD/CVD (Anti-Dumping Duties/Countervailing Duties)

· Updates internal order tracking database i.e. EPorts/Lognet

· Performs review of import and export entries to insure compliance, identifies noncompliance issues and initiates the action and/or provides guidance on the action steps required.

· Codes for applicable duty rates based on knowledge of product and HTS classification as well as tracking raw material components of products in SAP and CAMS operating systems.

· Approves and codes broker export invoices, import freight charges and duty payments utilizing PayCargo software

· Analyzes and Reconciles G/L accounts monthly using Blackline and SAP

· Maintains updated and accurate filing systems for both import and export shipments

· Acts as liaison and primary point of contact between inside and outside company departments.

· Audits files at specific intervals to identify and purge outdated information and ensure confidentiality of records.

· Assists with duty drawbacks and RVC Calculations

· Maintains various online system files in the IOR (Importer of Record) module for Canadian Shipments of Mohawk.  These files and processes extend from our raw material vendor thru manufacturing, pricing, order entry, shipping and customs documentation. Responsible for not only the maintenance of the IOR module, but the functionality of it as well by working with IS and Foreign Broker of EDI information.

· Instrumental in fact gathering and compiling responses to major audits from foreign governments.

· Addresses diverse range of Inquiries related to NAFTA and all other Free Trade Agreement eligibility, documentation and compliance.

· Verifies and requests payment on quarterly over bills for Canadian Customers.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

 

· Associate’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and training. Strong Knowledge of import/export regulations, procedures and documentation, including all Free Trade Agreement experience.  Strong knowledge of HTS (Harmonized Tariff System) classification and documentation  

· 1-2 years of Customs import brokerage and export shipping/compliance experience combined  

· Air Import Experience 

· Experience with the following: 

  • Customs Forms 7501 and 3461, 28, 29, CCI and B3
  • Resident and Non-Resident Importer of Record   
  • HTS (Harmonized Tariff System) Classification of machine parts, accessories, and flooring.
  • Descartes/Editrade ABI (Automated Broker Interface) experience
  • ACE (Automated Commercial Environment) 
  • All Free Trade Agreements
  • GSP (Generalized System of Preferences) 
  • ISF (Importer Security Filing)
  • AMS (Automated Manifest System)
  • Other trade programs, including additional tariffs i.e. Section 301.    

·  Knowledge of Customs audit procedures.  Accounting and Transportation experience.  Experience working with multiple entities including freight forwarders and third-party brokers to maintain compliance and corrections of any HTS issues

 

COMPETENCIES:

 

· Proficiency skills in Excel, Access, Word-processing, Outlook, SAP, PowerPoint, Vizio.  

· Experience with ABI software and ACE Reporting

· Fast paced enviornment

· Excellent verbal and written communications skills.  

· Must be detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines while ensuring compliance.
