Credit Manager- Home Center

Primary Objective:  In broad terms, briefly state the major purpose of primary objective of this position.

Plan, organize, and direct activities of major home center accounts’ credit and collections team. Interface with internal and external contacts to resolve problems regarding outstanding accounts receivables, customer disputes, and EDI/Invoicing issues. Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with customer base, Sales, Claims and other internal sources to identify, report, and resolve issues. Maintain and ensure continued compliance to company and regulatory laws, policies and processing guidelines. Identify, correct, and report all non-compliance and fraudulent activity.

Major Function and Scope: Using brief narrative statements, describe each major function of responsibility explaining the scope of the function as appropriate.

  • Provide direction to the team whose primary responsibility includes the input/export of data in customer portals and third-party processing sites to ensure ve
  • ndor process compliance. This includes ensuring invoices are properly transmitted in customer systems to ensure payment.
  • Work with team to proactively identify potential invoice payment issues and work with EDI team to resolve.
  • Direct team to proactively identify major deduction issues and variances from routine payment processes
  • Work with EDI team, Sales, and customers to resolve root cause of discrepancies
  • Direct team activities to resolve unwarranted deductions and file customer disputes. Provide follow-up, including communication with Sales and management as necessary
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of vendor buying agreements to partner with EDI, Claims, and other departments to assure customer set-up and processes are consistent with agreements
  • Work with internal process improvement and IS resources to develop improved reporting of items being worked and recovery of disputes
  • Support the AR team to help identify and accurately post/code payment or deduction items when automated processes are unable to
  • Work with the Manager of Financial Services to ensure team compliance to operating policies and procedures in accordance with corporate and regulatory guidelines
  • Develop and train team members with emphasis on working across functional lines with AR, Claims, and Customer Service
  • Works closely with senior management on analysis of business trends, actuals, forecasting and other projects as assigned.

Type of Experience and Knowledge:

Knowledge, Experience, Competencies and Supervision: Describe the education, knowledge required, years of experience, specific skills and abilities required to do the job on a fully competent basis.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration with a minimum of five years senior level credit and collections experience preferred. Minimum of 3 years in a lead/supervisory capacity in Credit may be considered in lieu of a college degree.
  • A minimum of two years in a lead/supervisory capacity, working with diverse work groups.
  • Extensive knowledge of Credit and Collections function related to high volume accounts
  • Extensive knowledge of the department’s operating and processing standards, guidelines and policies
  • Extensive knowledge of the Company’s products, services, organizational and functional structure and operating procedures
  • Intermediate computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
