The Business Development Specialist ensures the outside sales force has qualified leads and contacts with key customers to grow their business and strengthen customer relationships. This role will receive and qualify leads from various sources (marketing, lead generating vendors such as Material Bank, other industry specific lead sources and contact databases) and then deliver qualified leads to the outside sales team. This role is critical to new sales generation, improving the quality of sales by increasing specification business.




Assist Outside Sales Team with Vetted Leads and Contacts (80%)

  • Qualify leads through pre-defined process and complete initial discovery process
  • Assign lead to correctly identified outside sales person through CRM tool
  • Provide follow-up and support as required
  • Identify and qualify key contacts within top customers in each territory
  • Conduct audits periodically and report findings


Support key department initiatives (20%)

  • Support current department initiatives as needed




  • Four-year college degree in business or related field or relevant number of years in a related job field
  • 1-4 years experience in lead generation and business development
  • Knowledge of commercial flooring industry
  • Experience working in a CRM system
  • Demonstrates intermediate to advanced proficiency levels in: Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.), business intelligence tools and business writing
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrates a continuous improvement mindset
  • Excellent oral, written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills to effectively interact with management, internal and external customers, and ability to maintain corporate standards and professionalism.
  • Skill set that includes command of working independently, setting priorities, handling multiple tasks with concentration, speed and accuracy to meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
