What We Need: 

Provide technical expertise in automation, controls, and electrical systems to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of manufacturing equipment and processes throughout the facility.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Troubleshoot, install, repair, and replace programmable automation and control systems.
  • Troubleshoot, install, configure, and replace variable frequency drives (VFDs) in standalone applications and integrated control systems.
  • Analyze and resolve process control issues, including control loops, PID tuning, and automation system performance.
  • Troubleshoot industrial automation networks, including control system components, servers, and client networks.
  • Support manufacturing operations by providing technical expertise and troubleshooting assistance for automation and control systems.
  • Install, replace, calibrate, and maintain field instrumentation, including RTDs, thermocouples, flow meters, pressure transducers, standalone PID controllers, web-guiding systems, and thickness measurement devices.
  • Order replacement parts and components for repairs, upgrades, and system improvements, and monitor delivery schedules.
  • Manage small automation and control projects from conception through implementation, including parts procurement, installation, programming, testing, and documentation.
  • Attend job-related training as required by management.
  • Follow all established standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Perform general housekeeping and workplace organization duties as required.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by management.

 

What You Have:  

  • Associate degree in Electrical Technology or a related field from an accredited institution, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in process control and industrial automation systems.
  • Minimum of five years of recent experience installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial electrical and automation systems.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply information from technical manuals, specifications, and engineering documentation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, CAD software, PLC programming software, HMI development software, and related automation technologies.
  • Thorough knowledge of electrical systems, applicable electrical codes, and industry best practices.
  • Proficient in the use of electrical testing equipment, diagnostic tools, and related instrumentation.

 

What You’re Good At:

  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand technical documents, blueprints, electrical schematics, ladder logic programs, troubleshooting guides, and repair manuals.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify root causes and resolve complex automation and control system issues.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and make sound decisions in situations involving multiple variables and limited standardization.
  • Ability to train and mentor team members through on-the-job training (OJT).
  • Proficiency in the use of electrical testing equipment and diagnostic tools.
  • Proficiency in performing basic mathematical calculations, including fractions, decimals, and standard units of measurement.
  • Willingness and ability to travel for training and professional development as required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with employees, vendors, and customers across multiple departments and levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams within a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, quality workmanship, and attention to cleanliness and organization in the workplace.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects effectively.

 

What Else?

  • This position requires the team member to work with machinery in an environment where there may be regular exposure to chemicals, noise from machinery, dust, fumes, and variable temperatures.
  • Must be able to climb and work up to 100 feet.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.; bending, squatting, climbing ladders and stairs are required.
  • Other working conditions may include working long hours and flexible shifts, including holidays.
