What we need:
The Wastewater Treatment Operator is responsible for operating wastewater equipment and continuous visual monitoring of the various critical plant equipment for unfamiliar noises, leaks and possible equipment failures as well as housekeeping duties. This includes the following equipment but not limited to: scrubber, biofilter, steam generation, cooling tower, water treatment plant and storm water ponds.
What you’ll do:
- Perform lab based water chemistry checks for biofilter to include (pH, Oxygen Uptake testing with DO meter, Conductivity, Level Control). Monitor and adjust the biological reaction process to maintain differential pressures and temperatures while assuring sustained growth of the microbial populations within the Biofilter unit
- Monitor all pumps in work area, including waste water transfer pumps
- Troubleshoot, make minor repairs, and optimize performance of environmental control equipment to minimize downtime and assure compliance with Title V air regulations
- Participate in Operational Preventative Maintenance activities.
- Participate in additional technical training when available.
- Implement controls and procedures so that the site meets established safety and environmental compliance standards.
- Participate in product and/or process troubleshooting processes as required to solve existing problems. Expected to continually look for process improvements to reduce costs (raw materials, waste, etc..) and make the equipment more efficient
- Monitor the Scrubber and Biofilter to maintain compliance with Title V air permit requirements
- Monitor all related aspects of Steam Generation System (including Softener and deaeration)
- Monitor, maintain, and service the central cooling loop system that serves facility while performing chemical analysis of the closed loop’s water to assure reliable and sustainable performance.
- Operate the Kemco Waste Water Treatment System
- Make Storm Water Pond Checks and maintain water levels while submitting samples as prescribed by state issued Storm Water Permit.
- Be familiar with and lead compliance to Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan for Site (SWPP).
- Perform other duties as assigned
What you have:
- High school degree or equivalent
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, listening skills, data analysis and interpretation, as well as some mechanical skills
What you’re good at:
- Requires 2 or more years experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Wastewater treatment systems utilizing biological agents for pollution removal and control
- Knowledge on water chemistry testing protocols for both steam generation and microbe health
- Experience with equipment controls and HMI from and operational perspective is desired.
- Experience with pumps, valves and chemical feeding systems
- Experience with sampling and performing chemical analysis of wastewater before and after treatment
- Experience with performing and interpreting laboratory tests while keeping organized records of the result
What else?
- This employee will be responsible for direct reports.
- Must be able to walk and/or stand for extended periods of time on concrete.
- Must be able to work in varying temperatures up to 110 degrees and dusty environment.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs frequently and up to 80 lbs occasionally.
- Must be able to climb vertical ladders, multiple flights of stairs and work off elevated surfaces.
- Must not have any limitations in regards to working in confined spaces or wearing a respirator for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to wear hearing protection, eye protection, and steel toe shoes.
- Must be able to make repetitive motions involving twisting and turning and using the force of 50 lbs.
- Must be able to kneel and bend over frequently.
- Must be able to climb on and work around machinery resulting in awkward or uncomfortable positions.
- Must be able to sit and drive forklift on uneven driving surface.
- Must have vision of 20/50 (corrected or not).
