Primary Objective: Optimizes machine operation, which includes research, planning, design and follow-up documentation of projects across multiple production lines. 

Major Function and Scope:

Complies with all company safety rules and procedures 

Plans, assists, documents and implements process improvement techniques and devices 

Monitors and reacts in a timely manner to routine demand maintenance requirements 

Plans and executes routine Preventive/Predictable Maintenance for production lines 

Utilizes a variety of mechanical and electrical test equipment 

Utilizes machining, electrical and mechanical trade skills to complete daily tasks 

Analyzes machine downtime and reacts accordingly to improve machine efficiency 

Provides accurate and immediate hands-on troubleshooting and repair of manufacturing equipment including after-hours support 

Will be responsible for the leadership to a determined number of associates. 

Attend or teach any job-related training deemed necessary by supervision 

Ensures equipment optimizations within the production process 

Follow all established standard operating procedures 

Perform general housekeeping duties as necessary 

Has advanced technical knowledge of controls, electrical and mechanical equipment across multiple production lines 

Proficient to advanced knowledge of automation and PLCs 

Can plan and execute major work center rebuilds 

Coordinates and managers outside vendors to secure new/replacement parts and service for work centers/production lines 

Able to direct maintenance personnel and projects in the absence management 

Provides performance evaluations and coaching for technicians in support of management 

Creates and executes team trainings across all competencies when needed 

Perform other tasks assigned by management 

Type of Experience and Knowledge: 

Knowledge, Experience, Certifications: Describe the education, knowledge required, years of experience, specific skills and abilities required to do the job on a fully competent basis. 

Formal training and practical experience in an industrial setting 

Associate’s degree in applied technology in industrial/manufacturing or equivalent experience 

7+ years of practical hands-on experience in an industrial automated setting 

Experience utilizing a variety of instruments including but not limited to: multi-meters, oscilloscopes, PLC interface, hydraulic torque wrench and various hand tools 

Competencies: Describe the specific skills required for this position in terms of technical, managerial, interpersonal skills, and unique abilities.

  • Advanced proficiency with PLC control logic programming and troubleshooting 

  • Advanced understanding of high-pressure hydraulics, pneumatics, and automated material handling equipment 

  • Ability to replace/reprogram all drive types withing the department 

  • Advanced mechanical aptitude 

  • Ability to manage various optimization projects from conception to completion 

  • Advanced machining, welding skills, and fabrication skills 

  • Understands and executes preventative maintenance program for multiple production lines 

  • Good verbal and written communication skills 

  • Ability to interpret and produce mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics 

  • Must be able to provide technical assistance outside of normal work hours
