What we need:

 

Mohawk is looking for a Shift Leader III to serve under the direction of department management and will be responsible for supporting daily manufacturing operations through leadership, training, and operational expertise. This role assists supervisors and management in maintaining safety, quality, production, and employee development objectives while preparing for future supervisory opportunities. The Shift Leader III acts as an interim supervisor as needed, provides leadership coverage across shifts, and develops the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary for advancement into a supervisor role.

 

 

What you’ll do:

 

  • Serve as the primary backup to department supervisors, providing leadership coverage and ensuring operational continuity during absences, training, vacations, and other business needs.
  • Support employee performance and development by providing day-to-day guidance, coaching, training, and accountability while promoting adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Participate in leadership development opportunities and build the skills necessary for future supervisory roles within the organization.
  • Demonstrate flexibility by providing leadership support across shifts, departments, and operational areas as business needs require.
  • Assist with onboarding, training, qualification, and skill development of team members, serving as a Production Trainer when needed.
  • Perform production, quality, and operational support responsibilities, including operating equipment, supporting quality initiatives, and helping achieve production goals.
  • Identify and communicate safety, quality, production, and maintenance concerns, partnering with leadership and support teams to resolve issues and minimize downtime.
  • Promote a safe and productive work environment by following and reinforcing safety standards, standard operating procedures, housekeeping expectations, and other assigned duties or special projects.

 

 

What you have:

 

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • One year of related manufacturing, production, or operations experience.
  • Experience in Twisting and/or Heatset operations preferred; experience in both is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and Teams.
  • Demonstrated leadership potential and a willingness to participate in supervisory development and succession planning programs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster a positive, collaborative, and productive work environment.

 

What you’re good at:

 

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with team members, leaders, and support partners.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow safety rules, operating procedures, maintenance instructions, and other work-related documentation.
  • Basic math skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, decimals, and fractions.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately follow processes and work instructions.

  • Occasional exposure to hazardous conditions caused by noise, moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, and other conditions associated with a high-traffic production floor.
  • Must be able to walk long distances and stand for long periods of time.
  • Bending, crouching, and stooping may be required.
  • Must be able to work in non-climate-controlled facilities.
  • The work environment may be a noisy, high traffic manufacturing production floor.
  • May be required to work a flexible schedule to include evening and night shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • The ability to wear personal protective gear correctly most of the day.
  • The ability to lift 50 pounds regularly.
