Position Title: Sr. Manufacturing Engineer

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Responsible for the safe operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of DigiGlaze machinery and inkjet printer systems used for ceramic tile decoration.
  2. Troubleshoot, optimize processes, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality production.
  3. Drive innovation, maintain operational excellence, and uphold company standards in a world-class manufacturing environment.

 

Safety and Compliance:

  1. Lead safety initiatives and ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, including Proper Lock Out/Tag Out and procedures that safeguard workers from hazardous energy releases, Job Hazard Analysis, and Standard Operating Procedure standards.
  2. Promote ergonomic practices and proper material handling across operations.
  3. Facilitate Behavior-Based Safety programs and conduct regular audits to ensure a safe working environment.

 

Machine Operation & Maintenance:

  1. Oversee daily operations and preventative maintenance for DigiGlaze and inkjet printing equipment.
  2. Troubleshoot and repair complex electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems associated with digital printing and glazing processes.
  3. Update and maintain machinery with the latest software and technical improvements in coordination with vendors.
  4. Ensure equipment reliability through regular inspections, calibrations, and adherence to Original Equipment Manufacturer recommendations.

 

Process Optimization:

  1. Collaborate with Research & Development and production teams to enhance equipment performance and resolve technical challenges.
  2. Lead continuous improvement initiatives, including Six Sigma projects, to reduce waste and optimize production efficiency.
  3. Analyze production failures and implement corrective actions to ensure consistent quality and minimal downtime.

 

Digital Printer Expertise:

  1. Adjust and optimize inkjet printers for tile decoration, including managing ink pressure systems, calibrating colors, and aligning printheads.
  2. Utilize Photoshop and similar software for graphic adjustments and to ensure accurate print quality.
  3. Identify and correct digital printing defects, such as color imbalances or application inconsistencies.

 

Training and Leadership:

  1. Train team members on machine operation, safety procedures, and maintenance best practices.
  2. Provide guidance on procedural updates and oversee the development of operator care programs.
  3. Mentor and support new hires and existing team members to foster technical growth and competency.

 

Quality Assurance:

  1. Conduct quality control audits to ensure production meets International Organization for Standardization 9001:2015 standards.
  2. Address and resolve issues related to glaze defects, shade variations, and overall print quality.
  3. Coordinate with the quality department to develop and update necessary documentation and procedures.

 

Collaboration and Reporting:

  1. Work with international vendors, engineering, and maintenance teams to implement machine upgrades and process improvements.
  2. Maintain detailed service records and documentation for all equipment and processes.
  3. Support cross-plant initiatives and provide expertise for system improvements across the organization.

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Requires a High School Diploma, plus the following experience:
  1. 3 years of total experience operating and maintaining DigiGlaze machinery and Inkjet printers in a ceramic tile manufacturing setting.
  2. 3 years of industrial automation experience to include each of the following: Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) programming, sensors, pneumatic systems, and electrical troubleshooting.
  3. 3 years of total hands-on experience with imaging software for digital printer adjustments and quality control.
  4. 3 years of total experience leading process improvements, training team members, and managing technical projects.
