Oversees raw materials area for two production lines including, Super-Sac loading of Granulates and powders, pigment production and scheduling, and pneumatic truck unloading for resin, powder and granulates. Be a direct resource to the supervisors and managers of the lines to ensure production needs are being met.

  • Owns the Raw Materials areas and takes a leadership role in maintaining high quality standards.
  • Take ownership of organizing recipe adjustment and changes that are made with QC, R&D, and management team.
  • Organize pigment colors needed for pigment preparation to have clear instructions for when each color is used.
  • Oversees and assists with all raw materials operations including two loading stations, pneumatic truck unloading for two production lines, pigment blending and bagging according to the production schedule for both lines.
  • Ensures safe and efficient operation of all assigned equipment within the Raw Materials department
  • Oversee pneumatic unloading for 10+ trucks a day by following and prioritizing a pneumatic truck schedule given by the purchasing department
  • Follow and prioritize tasks based on production schedule to ensure pigment is made and approved within a timely manner to be ready for production. This will need to be done for both lines.
  • Transports, weighs, and mixes appropriate ingredients and oversees the processes being done by other team members throughout two production lines
  • Assists in the training of all operators within the raw materials department.
  • Give direction to loaders and pigment operators based of production needs
  • Monitors all materials being blended or loaded into the line for accuracy and quality
  • Performs pigment color tests (cookies) utilizing the methods developed by QC when needed
  • Learn to trouble shoot equipment and support maintenance in repairing by giving sound information about issues
  • Monitors equipment or processes and reports problems to supervisor including safety, quality, productivity, staffing, and systems-related issues
  • Keeps raw materials delivery systems free of extra material by inspecting and cleaning all belting, transition points, and catch pans. Ensure that operators for both lines are performing their checks and filling out paperwork.
  • Performs audits of the raw materials area relative to safety, quality, and productivity for the department.
  • Utilizes floor scrubbers and cleaning tools to maintain plant floors within all departments.
  • Able to receive trucks and complete all receiving paperwork including trailer inspections.
  • Communicates immediately any production, or quality impacting events to the supervisor on duty.
  • Ensures test pigments are made correctly and timely within schedule
  • Understands the SOPs and assists with any revisions that may be needed
  • Ensures area stays safe, clean, and organized
  • Must be willing to cross department lines and help the team where needed
  • Performs other related duties as required
  • Ensures all chemicals and supplies are received and stored safely until being delivered to production.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this position.  Employees frequently work under extreme heat or cold weather conditions, near moving mechanical parts, and in high and/or precarious places, and are exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and vibration.  Employees occasionally work in confined spaces and are exposed to fumes or airborne particles, and caustic chemicals.  The noise level is frequently loud.
