The Senior Credit Coordinator supports the Credit Manager in maintaining strong internal and external customer relationships while ensuring compliance with established credit and collections policies, procedures, and practices. This role is responsible for contacting customers regarding overdue accounts, reconciling customer accounts, researching and resolving chargebacks, and applying cash payments.

 

In addition, the position assists with performing clerical and record-keeping tasks. By collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders, the Senior Credit Coordinator helps drive effective credit management and supports overall departmental goals.

 

Duties and Responsibilities of the Position:

  • Demonstrates understanding of company operations and industry trends; assists with identification of potential process improvements.
  • Performs data entry to establish and maintain customer account database files; ensures all required information is processed promptly, accurately and in accordance with established guidelines. 
  • Research account discrepancies for chargebacks, reconciliation, negotiate payments, and notify and collect payment toward delinquent accounts.
  • Collaborate between Credit groups and other areas of the business to determine next steps for customer and provide resolution (Sales, Customer Service, Claims, Logistics, etc.) 
  • Provides administrative support for assigned areas including, but not limited to, aging/fine reports, filing, correspondence, account reconciliation, refunds, NSF checks, communication within and outside of department, etc. 
  • Maintains all assigned accounts within established performance standards; actively participates and contributes to group quality improvement processes.  
  • Provides proofs of delivery and packing slips to customers as required for payment.
  • Issues credit memos, performs cash application, and account reconciliation.
  • Prepares spreadsheet analyses of accounts.
  • Updates procedural manual as policies and procedures change.
  • Assists in training for lower level and new employees in the area.
  • Performs other duties as needed.

 

Required Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent education and/or experience.
  • 0-2 years’ relevant experience or equivalent education and/or experience.
  • SAP experience preferred.
  • 2 or more years of experience in A/R (collections & customer account reconciliation) specializing in “big-box” retailers preferred.
  • Cash application experience preferred.

  • Excellent communication, problem solving, and organizational skills.
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • High level of integrity and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential data.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite products.
  • Knowledge of accounting terminology, practices, and concepts.
