The R&D Summer Intern will support a materials innovation project focused on optimizing the use of dye sublimation inks on resin bonded quartz slabs. This project will evaluate the physical and chemical parameters of both dye sublimation inks and resin packages to enhance product differentiation and manufacturing capability. This internship is structured as a project-based experience to be completed within the 12-week program. The intern will collaborate closely with the R&D team in Dallas and key manufacturing stakeholders in Dickson, TN. This position is located at the Dallas Corporate office and is an onsite internship opportunity. This is not a remote role.
The selected intern will present project outcomes at our annual Intern Expo Day on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.

Project Scope & Responsibilities
The purpose of this internship project is to evaluate and optimize the dye sublimation decoration process for resin bonded quartz slabs.
The intern will:

Analyze physical and chemical properties of dye sublimation inks

Evaluate resin system compatibility with sublimation processes

Conduct laboratory testing and documentation of material performance

Assess process variables impacting adhesion, durability, and visual quality

Collaborate with manufacturing stakeholders to evaluate scalability

Document findings and recommend process improvements

Qualifications
-
Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Polymer Science, or related field

Completed at least three years of coursework preferred

Strong understanding of material properties and chemical interactions

Experience with laboratory testing, data collection, and analysis

Strong analytical and documentation skills

Ability to collaborate across technical and manufacturing teams
