The Manager Applications Development is a first-level manager that manages and plans day-to-day operations within the Applications Development team. This role works in concert with Division Project Managers and consulting groups to complete assigned development tasks and ensures processes and systems are integrated to support expected customer service levels.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Position:
- Manage a dynamic team of individuals who constantly search for creative ways to elevate the capabilities of technology systems to meet business needs, partly by capitalizing on emerging technologies and adapting technologies to the needs of the customer.
- Provide direction on staff development and training, budget management, feasibility studies, delegation, project and resources control, teamwork coordination, and project team constructive feedback as it pertains to individual, project, or overall program performance.
- Maintain effective, productive, and professional working relationships with internal and external customers, third party vendors, project management office, relationship managers, and governance organizations in accomplishing project objectives.
- Contribute to the development of business application tactical plans; responsible for the accurate and efficient forecasting and allocations of resources required to meet objectives; manage all aspects of development, installation, maintenance, and enhancement for mission-critical application systems for an assigned unit/area.
- Provide direction to team according to established policies and management guidance.
- Develop, document, and maintain best practices, project standards, procedures, application, quality objectives and lessons learned, including metrics for assessing progress.
- Ensure that applications systems are developed in a way that complies with architectural standards and established methodologies and practices.
- Develop and deliver training on and emphasizes the use of established project standards, methodology and quality objectives.
- Proactively seek opportunities to apply technology to expanding business potential.
- Review relevant factors to analyze situations and resolve issues.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Required Experience and Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent education and/or experience.
- 6-8 years’ relevant experience or equivalent education and/or experience.
- 1-3 years of management experience.
- 5+ years in business application design and systems development, including implementation and installation.

- Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite products.

- High degree of professionalism, judgment, maturity, and resourcefulness in the absence of formalized guidelines and procedures.
