Job Objective:
The Director Construction is a senior leadership position responsible for leading the construction program and providing strategic direction for capital projects across showrooms, manufacturing facilities, distribution centers, sales and service centers, and corporate locations. This role establishes construction priorities, oversee project execution, develops high-performing teams, and partners with business leaders to deliver safe, cost-effective projects that support operational and long-term business objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Position:
• Lead the construction project portfolio by establishing priorities, allocating resources, and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with business goals.
• Manage, coach, and develop a team of Construction Managers while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and professional growth.
• Establish project management standards, governance, reporting, and performance measures that promote consistent execution across all construction projects.
• Partner with senior leaders to develop capital plans, evaluate project priorities, and align construction initiatives with operational needs and long-term facility strategies.
• Oversee project budgets, schedules, risk management, and resource planning while providing executive-level updates on project performance, financial results, and emerging issues.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, contractors, architects, engineers, consultants, and vendors to support successful project delivery and informed decision-making.
• Ensure construction activities comply with company standards, safety requirements, building codes, regulatory requirements, and quality expectations while minimizing operational disruption.
• Identify opportunities to improve construction processes, vendor performance, project delivery methods, and team capabilities to increase efficiency and strengthen project outcomes.
• Performs other duties as needed.
Required Experience and Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent education and/or experience.
• 10+ years relevant experience or equivalent education and/or experience.
• 5+ years of management experience.
